A Wall Street Journal headline refers to it as “deadly strontium“.

Note that the numbers above are for the 2014 daily releases. Here’s the 2013 data:

  • Strontium 90 = ~15 billion Bq/day
  • Cesium 137 = ~22 billion Bq/day
  • Tritium = ~24 billion Bq/day
  • Total daily outflow into the port = ~61 billion Bq/day
